Welcome to the pronunciation Series!
Dear students,
Welcome to the Thai Pronunciation Series!
I am glad that I can be there for you to help you improve your fundamental pronunciation skill which it's very crucial for Thai conversation. I believe you're here because you know how important it is. Maybe you feel frustrated that Thai people don't understand you, or you have a very strong accent from your mother tongue, or you're interested in learning Thai phonetics. You're at the right place.
What are the methods used in this course?
There are two main methods that are applied in this course: concept and physical exercise.
I do believe that learning pronunciation is about being aware of each sound, donation, dynamic, etc. However, to enforce the concept into practice, you need a lot of physical exercise. It's like learning a sport. Watching tutorials might help you to understand the concept, tips, and techniques to play, but you need to keep building your muscle memories and keep practicing.
In this course, there are 20 lessons to help explain the concepts, beside you can practice with more than 20 drills and exercises. Once you learn a concept, you can then test your understanding and practice right away.
Course contents
There are 5 chapters in total. Each chapter consists of around 3-4 lessons. I highly recommend watching the lesson in order.
Chapter 1: Consonant Sounds (master beginning consonant sounds and practice unreleased ending consonant sounds)
Chapter 2: Vowel Sounds (go through each vowel sound, and practice defining the length of the vowel sounds)
Chapter 3: Thai Tones (master Thai tones with the visualization on the pitch graph)
Chapter 4: Summary & Exceptions (learn exceptions including stress, shortening, simplification, etc.)
