Welcome to Basic Thai Reading Volume 2.

If you’ve completed Volume 1, congratulations — you’ve already built a solid foundation in Thai consonants, vowels, and basic syllable structure. In this volume, we take the next step and focus on how Thai reading really works in practice.

Volume 2 is designed to help you connect all the pieces together: consonant classes, live and dead syllables, tone rules, tone marks, hidden vowels, special symbols, and advanced reading patterns. My goal is to help you stop guessing, read more smoothly, and understand why Thai words sound the way they do.

💡 Important:

If Thai script still feels confusing or unfamiliar, I strongly recommend starting with Volume 1 first. Volume 2 assumes you already recognize basic consonants, vowels, and syllable blocks.

Learning Approach

This course continues the step-by-step, pattern-based approach from Volume 1, with more focus on application and recognition.

How to Learn Effectively

To get the most out of Volume 2, I recommend the following:

1. Log in to your Teachable account (bookmark the login page for easy access).
2. Download the Volume 2 workbook before starting.
3. Watch the video lessons in order — concepts build on each other.
4. Take notes directly in your workbook to reinforce understanding.
5. Review the summary sections at the end of each chapter.
6. Practice with Wordwall activities and reading drills provided in the course.
7. If something feels unclear, leave a question in the lesson comments — our teacher team is here to help.
